About Leanna Seetahal

Leanna received her Bachelor of Law from the University of the West Indies in 2008. She is a member of the Law Societies of Alberta, of Saskatchewan and of Upper Canada, as well as a member of the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago.

Her practice focuses on litigation in the areas of criminal law, family law, and civil law.

Criminal Law: Leanna has previously worked as both a federal and a provincial prosecutor, and has handled matters involving various criminal offences ranging from traffic infractions to assault, to drug trafficking. She has the experience to take your matter through the initial appearance, the bail hearing, the trial and sentencing, and to negotiate a resolution in your best interest.

Civil Law: Having worked at a firm specializing in civil litigation Leanna has worked on cases varying in complexity—from small claims cases, to million-dollar claims.

Family Law: Leanna has assisted clients in obtaining simple divorces and in more complicated family proceedings such as child custody and access, child and spousal support, division of property, and separation agreements.

In addition to these areas of law, Leanna also has a particular interest in human rights issues, and enjoys community involvement. She is a Section member with the Canadian Bar Associations’s Criminal Law Section and the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Section.
